Jose Castro insists Sevilla ‘cannot be happy’ despite the team’s performance in the European Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid.
Moreover, the Andalusian club’s President [pictured, right] feels the last-gasp extra-time loss in Trondheim’s Lerkendal Stadium this week should serve as an inspiration to beat Barcelona and land the Spanish Super Cup, the first leg of which is at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday, with the return next Wednesday.
“We can’t be happy because we had the title in our hands and lost it,” lamented Castro during the official presentation of recent signing Gabriel Mercado.
“We hoped the third goal of the game would have won it for us but with a player less it became more difficult,”
“The defeat must inspire us to overcome Barca, although we know how difficult that is, but we are going to try and win it, which is important.
“Strange things happen in pre-season, so why can’t we win? Last year Athletic Bilbao did it and it’s true that just a few days ago we made a titanic effort against Barca.
“There are still a few things to be polished within the squad but we have seen a lot of good things,” he concluded.
