Espanyol are reportedly “a step away” from signing former Manchester City and Malaga defender Martin Demichelis on a free transfer.
According to Marca, negotiations between Espanyol and Demichelis are at an advanced stage and could be concluded as soon as Tuesday.
The 35-year-old, who also played for Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, is currently without a club after his City contract expired earlier in the summer.
Los Periquitos are also hoping to follow up Demichelis’ arrival with that of young midfielder Victor Camarasa.
However, a deal for the 22-year-old is proving trickier, with the player contracted to Levante until 2019, but the newspaper claims an agreement is close.
