Arsene Wenger has rejected claims Arsenal are close to signing Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi but hinted that the situation is subject to change.
Reports in England emerged over the weekend that Arsenal were hopeful of securing a €30m deal for Mustafi as part of a double swoop with Alexandre Lacazette, but Wenger insisted no new faces were imminent.
“We have not closed any deal with anybody at the moment,” the manager said at a Press conference, reports the Evening Standard.
“That’s the answer. You speak about Mustafi. Is it Mustafi or anybody else – we haven’t concluded anything at the moment.
“At the moment we have Per Mertesacker out and we have Laurent Koscielny still on holiday, plus Gabriel [Paulista].
“One of them will play at the start of the season or at least be in the squad. At the moment I have a look at everybody and after I will make my final decision.”
