Pako Ayestaran has confidence Dani Parejo will stay at Valencia in the face of interest from Sevilla and reports the midfielder wants out.
Parejo has been linked to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan but Ayestaran believes he’ll remain at Mestalla, despite an at times frosty relationship with the fans.
“He’s training more or less as expected. Obviously everyone has to live with their circumstances. What we need to do is convince him of his importance. As Coach that’s clear to me, and I told the club and the squad that he’s not an important player, he’s the most important. He has a quality that is difficult to find and he’s a player on which we base this project,” Ayestaran told AS.
“Valencia have to offer more than money, something another club can’t, and that’s love, that we value our players as players and as people we care about. I think Valencia have examples in recent years of players who have left and we thought nothing would happen and then we’ve realised we’ve lost great players.
“With Parejo we are clear, the club, the Coach and his teammates, that he’s not just important, he’s the most important. Do I trust him to stay? Totally.”
