Sassuolo have asked Atletico Madrid for Javi Manquillo to fill the gap left when Sime Vrsaljko moved to Vicente Calderon.
Vrsaljko left the Serie A club earlier in the summer and AS reports Sassulo have identified Manquillo as an option to replace him, the defender not part of Diego Simeone’s plans in the capital.
Manquillo is though happy to wait and see what other options become available and a permanent return to Marseille, where he spent last season, could be among them.
Granada have also asked about Manquillo but only on loan, while Atletico want to sell, and other so far unnamed Italian teams have also enquired as to the 22-year-old.
