Enrique Cerezo has ruled out the possibility of Atletico Madrid signing Milan striker Carlos Bacca or any other Serie A forward this summer.
Links between Bacca and Atleti had intensified after the former Sevilla man admitted he wanted to join a club “fighting for the Champions League”, despite interest from West Ham United, but Cerezo insists no Italy-based attackers are headed for the Vicente Calderon.
“Bacca is a great player, but we won’t sign him, neither will we buy a forward from Serie A,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s the same for [Gonzalo] Higuain and the others we’ve been linked with.
“[Mauro Icardi’s] name isn’t on our agenda, and we won’t negotiate for him.
“[On Diego Costa], I don’t speak about players of other clubs.”
