Barcelona have reportedly made an enquiry for Valencia’s Joao Cancelo as they step up their search for a new right-back, with Dani Alves leaving.
According to Sport, Cancelo has become Barca’s top right-back target after Hector Bellerin refused to force a departure from Arsenal, while they are fans of the Portuguese’s experience in La Liga and “very interesting” potential.
The newspaper adds Los Che are holding out for €20m, but that figure could be brought down significantly as Pako Ayestaran’s side are believed to be after Blaugrana pair Alen Halilovic and Cristian Tello, both of whom could be included in a deal.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier – who was suspended by his Coach Laurent Blanc in February – and Torino’s Bruno Peres are other targets, but links with Sassuolo’s Sime Vrsaljko have cooled off as he is close to joining Atletico Madrid.
Alves’ impending move to Juventus, plus Aleix Vidal’s failure to convince his worth and Sergi Roberto only being considered a backup for the position has prompted Barca to make a new right-back their priority over a left-sided centre-back.
