Barcelona midfielder Alen Halilovic has confirmed that “negotiations are going well” with Valencia over a permanent transfer.
In what appears to be a similar deal to the one which took Denis Suarez to Villarreal last summer, Barca are prepared to sell Halilovic to Valencia if Los Che agree to the insertion of a buyback clause, which the Catalans are expected to activate for the former in due course.
“Nothing has been agreed with Valencia yet, but negotiations are going well and we’re waiting to hear from Barcelona,” the 19-year-old told TPortal on Thursday as he touched down in Croatia for Euro 2016 preparations.
“My greatest wish is to stay at Barcelona and wait for my chance there, but if they tell me to go to another club then I’ll think in that manner.
“I’m pleased to have attracted the attention of other clubs like Valencia but, to my knowledge, Barcelona have plans for me and reserved a buyback option for the future.”
Ivan Rakitic added of his countryman: “He’s had a great year at Sporting, and the best recognition he can get is what his teammates say about him. He’s very young and we can all be very happy.”
Halilovic scored three goals and made five assists on loan at Sporting Gijon in 2015-16 as the Asturians maintained their Primera status on the final day of the campaign.
