Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Sevilla have the advantage ahead of the Europa League final on May 18.
The Andalusians are certain to finish seventh in La Liga whatever the result of their last game of the season at Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, and Klopp reckons that boss Unai Emery can afford to field a weakened team at San Mames with nothing to play for.
“I always try to say that you need rhythm, but if we lose the next two games I’ll still go to Basel confident and thinking we can win this game,” said the German in comments reported by the Express.
“It would feel better if we won them, that’s how it is. But I cannot decide now, there’s no rule, no fixed rule that says if you win the last two then you will win the final, unfortunately not.
“You saw that Sevilla changed 11 positions in the last game and the only news you read about is ‘Sevilla not ready for the final’. They changed completely and I´m sure there were different players on the bench.
“So they are already preparing for the final. We can’t do that as we are not in a fixed position. They are fixed in seventh and can’t fail.
“That’s their way and our way is to concentrate on things we can have an influence on. That means Chelsea, West Brom, then the final. We’ll try everything, that’s for sure.”
