Lucas Vazquez insists there is “no reason” for the ‘BBC’ to be envious of the ‘MSN’ as “we’re Real Madrid and we’re not intimated by Barcelona”.
The ‘MSN’ have scored more goals than the ‘BBC’ this season, but the latter have been interrupted by injuries and boast a higher average return, and Vazquez expects the trident to prove their quality in the Clasico on Saturday.
“The ‘MSN’ are three great players, but the ‘BBC’ are also spectacular and have no reason to be envious,” the winger told Onda Cero.
“They are players who make a difference and show it game after game.
“[La Liga] is difficult, but on Saturday if we have a good game, work well and get a good result, there’s still a chance.
“While there is life, there is hope. Eight games remain, and in football you never know.
“Things can change haphazardly from one moment to another, so we must be prepared.
“The first game [0-4] was a blow, but now we want to win. More than revenge, we want to win the game at all costs.
“We’re not intimidated by Barcelona. We have respect for all our rivals, but we’re Real Madrid and we try to win at all stadia, Camp Nou included.
“I’m very happy with how things are going, and I hope to continue improving.
“The national team is something huge. Hopefully the Coach will call me up one day, but I think it’ll be difficult.
“James [Rodriguez] is spectacular. He had two great games for Colombia [during the international break], which will help us continue our run of form.
“Keylor [Navas] is at an incredible level. He’s a goalkeeper who provides security and performs well between the sticks. I think he has everything.
“[Zinedine] Zidane tells me to continue as I am. He’s pleased with me and I’ll continue to work for the team. He gives me confidence.”
