Valencia are reported as being “a very serious option” for Marseille defender and long-time target Nicolas N’Koulou this summer.
According to Le Phoceen, as per Superdeporte, Los Che are ready to take advantage of the centre-back’s expiring contract, despite clubs in England, Italy and Germany also following the player.
“Valencia are a very serious option for Nkoulou, but other teams have him in their sights,” a source close to the Cameroonian is believed to have said.
“Clubs in England, Italy and Germany are also interested, so Nico will take his time before making a decision.
N’Koulou has been freely able to speak to other clubs since January 1 and is all-but-certain to leave Marseille when his contract ends on June 30.
Sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch is also understood to be busy preparing Valencia’s squad for next season and has made the signing of a central defender a priority.
However, Valencia are set to miss out on European qualification, weakening their bargaining position against the likes of Leicester City, Milan, Schalke and Lyon.
Serie A-based pair Gonzalo Rodriguez and Raul Albiol, both of whom boast La Liga experience, are other options for Valencia if a deal for N’Koulou cannot be struck.
