Real Sociedad star Carlos Vela has reportedly been fined a club-record sum and will be made to train alone after skipping training without permission.
AS reported on Wednesday that Vela was due to be punished by La Real for his absence from training two days earlier, and the newspaper claims to have been told by the club that the Mexican will receive “an economic sanction which will be significant” and a “personalised training programme”, thus isolating him from the first team.
La Real are also said to have told AS that the financial penalty is based on the club’s “internal code of discipline”, meaning they will not make the sum public, although the former Arsenal man is expected to be fined an unpredecented three weeks’ wages.
Vela met with sporting director Loren and general manager Inaki Otegi separately, before the outcome of both was communicated to Coach Eusebio Sacristan, who made the decision of ejecting him from training with the rest of the squad until further notice, rendering him unlikely to be considered for Celta Vigo on Saturday.
The attacker is then thought to have apologised to his teammates in the dressing room after training on Wednesday, where he admitted his mistake and asked for forgiveness.
Although the exact reasons for Vela’s absence have not been confirmed, the player was photographed attending a concert in Madrid without La Real’s blessing.
