Marcelo a derby doubt, Benz trains

Real Madrid are waiting on the fitness of Marcelo for the Madrid derby after the left-back pulled up in training, but Karim Benzema should be ready.

AS reports Marcelo, who has been carrying a shoulder problem after a dislocation only a few weeks ago, will have a fitness test on Friday after he was unable to complete Thursday’s training session due to a hip injury.

Madrid are said to be optimistic the Brazil international will be cover but won’t know more until the day before the game with Atletico Madrid.

If Marcelo doesn’t make the visit of Atletico, then either Danilo or Nacho will be used in his place.

AS adds that Benzema began Thursday’s session in the gym but was able to join his teammates on the turf, his hip injury seemingly recovering in time for the match.

Benzema hadn’t trained on Tuesday or Wednesday and missed the weekend’s draw with Malaga.

Gareth Bale and Pepe are both definitely out, the publication confirms.
