Cristiano Ronaldo claims his goal in Real Madrid’s 2-0 Champions League win at Roma on Wednesday “is normal when you have quality”.
The Portuguese reinforced his status as both the tournament’s all-time top goalscorer and most prolific player away from home with a trademark finish to break the deadlock against the Giallorossi in the last-16 first leg, cutting inside from the left and bending a strike past Wojciech Szczesny.
“My goal against Roma? Normal. It’s normal when you have quality…” he told Real Madrid TV.
“A game of this type, away from home, is difficult, but Real Madrid are Real Madrid, and our quality rose to the top.
“We scored two goals and went from there. The team were phenomenal.
“In the first half, [Roma] played well and ran a lot, but in the second they dropped off because it’s impossible to run the full 90 minutes as they did in the first half.”
