Fabio Capello expects Zinedine Zidane to thrive at Real Madrid as he has the ‘charisma’ and ‘international experience’ to be a success.
Capello was speaking to El Partido de las 12 and discussed the former France international, who replaced Rafa Benitez in January, a vacancy Capello denied he had any discussions about.
“I don’t know what happened in that locker room. I never spoke to Madrid to replace Benitez. Zidane has the charisma, the international experience, and he can succeed,” AS quotes the Italian saying.
Capello also insisted Cristiano Ronaldo has plenty more to offer to Madrid, predicted a tricky run-in for Barcelona and previewed Madrid’s Champions League encounter with Roma.
“Roma is a danger. You can’t think it’s an easy game. Beware [Luciano] Spalletti,” he counselled.
“They’ve won three games, have another system of playing, the players have more confidence and more belief in the Coach.
“They’re a much more organised team, they press much higher, win the ball back quickly. They’re a different team.
“Barca? They’ll have a lot of games that seem easy but will be the most difficult because the players will relax.
“Madrid have to fight to the death in all games. They have to play them all as a final and wait for the opponents’ results.
“Ronaldo has more experience. If he’s careful he can play to 34, easily. It’s not easy to find a goal scorer like him.”
