The President of Qatar's 2022 World Cup committee says he is confident Barcelona and Qatar will soon renegotiate their sponsorship agreement.
Talks between Qatar and Barca have reportedly broken down, with President Josep Maria Bartomeu quoted as saying his club are aware of the social issues present in the Arab country, but Hassan Al Thawadi believes both parties will eventually find common ground.
"Qatar and Barca are good friends, we'll rectify the situation, for sure," he told Mundo Deportivo.
"The deal between Qatar and Barca has been very fruitful for both parties.
"Qatar Airways is also delighted for also for the international promotion of Qatar, and I also think Barca should be for our contribution as sponsors.
"We should try to heal the wounds, if any, shake hands as friends and go forward as usual.
"Qatar and Barca are loyal friends and we must continue like this."
Barca signed a six-year deal with Qatar worth €150m in 2010, with their shirts initially bearing the Qatar Foundation logo and then Qatar Airways.
