Barcelona Vice-President Jordi Mestre felt the club left nothing on the table in trying to talk Celta Vigo into letting go of Nolito.
The Spain international was widely reported as La Blaugrana’s main objective for the winter transfer window but it closed on Monday with Nolito still at Balaidos.
“There were times in which [the transfer] was done and times in which it wasn’t,” Mestre told Mundo Deportivo late on Monday, prior to the close of the window, having confirmed there was little chance of late developments.
“There was a negotiation and for our part we have made offers and alternatives even more than we could offer but the other part, Celta, didn’t yield.
“Barca did everything we could and more to sign him.”
