Florentino Perez says it’s normal Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo but ‘he’s the best in the world and won’t leave Real Madrid.’
Perez was speaking to France Football and acknowledged interest from the Ligue 1 leaders in Ronaldo, suggesting it’s going to be ignored.
“I’m not surprised. Ronaldo is the best in the world and he’s the leader of Madrid,” the President noted, AS reports.
“It’s normal to dream of having him. He’s the heir to Alfredo Di Stefano and he’s happy here, so he won’t leave. He’s the best player in the world and has to continue playing in the best team in the world.”
Perez was also asked about Madrid’s transfer embargo and the prospect of new faces arriving in January to bolster the squad while they still can.
“The embargo is painful. It’s a very serious soiling of Madrid’s image,” Perez insisted.
“We’re certain it’s a mistake. It’s totally absurd that Madrid are punished for a child protection issue when that’s a priority for us.
“We won’t sign in the winter, but it has nothing to do with the sanction. It’s because we have the best players and the best Coach.”
