Valencia and Villarreal could be the next La Liga clubs to face a transfer embargo amid reports the pair are preparing for the sanction.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were last week banned from registering new players for two transfer windows beginning this summer, though both are appealing the punishment, which was handed down for the improper registration of under-18s.
AS reports Los Che and the Yellow Submarine could be next as they were among the clubs contacted by FIFA for more information on the status of some of the players on their books.
They were not, however, mentioned in the communique that confirmed bans for the Madrid clubs, but AS points out that doesn’t mean their involvement is forgotten.
Valencia confirmed they were under investigation a year ago and last summer acted with caution when faced with the chance to sign three young South Korean players – all were rejected.
There’s a feeling that any news on a punishment for Valencia could be months away, possibly not before the summer transfer window, and newly-appointed sporting director Juan Garcia Pitarch is aware of the situation.
