Rayo Vallecano have made their first signing of the January transfer window with defender Jose Angel Crespo joining on loan from Aston Villa.
Marca reported Crespo was due in Madrid on Wednesday to finalise the move and could even train with Rayo in the evening, having signed for the rest of the season.
Crespo has also represented Sevilla, Racing Santander and Cordoba, and spent time in Italy on the books at Padova, Bologna and Verona before moving to England in 2015.
The 28-year-old made only two appearances for Villa, both in October, featuring in the Premier League defeat to Stoke City and the Capital One Cup reverse at Southampton.
Marca notes specifically that Crespo is being brought in to account for the injury to left-back Razvan Rat, but can also offer cover in the centre of defence.
