Ernesto Valverde believes Athletic Bilbao know how to make life difficult for Barcelona, and isn’t concerned about the weekend’s League hammering.
Valverde in his Copa del Rey pre-match Press conference referred to a 4-0 Supercopa de Espana win for his team over Barca, part of an eventual 5-1 triumph, but Barca did win 6-0 against 10-man Athletic on Sunday.
“This is another competition. The 90 minutes [on Sunday] were decided by the third minute [sending off of Gorka Iraizoz],” Valverde argued, AS reports.
“We will try to play our game, we intend to go through to the next round. The other day we were playing for three points.
“Whenever you lose a game you’re looking forward to the next one to put it right. We’re a very strong team and want to show our best side.
“We’ve won two and lost two against Barca at San Mames. Our style hasn’t changed much. We changed a little at Camp Nou, not too much. We’re uncomfortable for Barca.”
