Real Madrid insist their FIFA-imposed transfer embargo is baseless and confirm plans to appeal the sanction.
Madrid, as well as Atletico Madrid, were on Thursday banned from registering players for two transfer windows beginning in summer 2016 for the improper registration of under-18s from outside Spain.
The club has released a statement disputing FIFA’s findings, rejecting the assertion that players in the youth system were improperly registered, and confirming they will challenge the punishment.
Madrid insist they have at all times complied with the regulations of FIFA’s representative body in Spain, the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF].
