Gary Neville rued Valencia’s “big disappointment” after they lost 2-0 at Real Sociedad but reiterated he would not rush into the transfer market for reinforcements.
Jonathas’ late brace prolonged Neville’s wait for a La Liga win as Los Che fell 16 points behind the Champions League places, but the Englishman felt his obligation to substitute both Joao Cancelo and Enzo Perez handed La Real the initiative.
“The second half was a big disappointment,” he said after the game.
“I replaced [Joao] Cancelo [at half-time] because his yellow card could’ve lead to a red.
“Neither did I want to replace Enzo Perez, but he picked up an injury, and from there La Real grew.
“We need to start winning regularly, but I want to be with these players so they can improve.
“I know there will be talk about signings after a defeat like this, but that’s what I think.”
