Watford have had a bid for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey rejected but could be close to signing Mario Suarez from Fiorentina.
The former Atletico midfielder moved to Italy in the summer but a loan switch to the Premier League with a view to a permanent deal has been mooted, according to reports from England.
The Hornets have though been rebuffed in an attempt to take midfielder Thomas from Vicente Calderon, Los Colchoneros rejecting a €9m approach, Marca say.
Thomas has impressed Diego Simeone, and broken into the Atleti reckoning, scoring the only goal of the game against Levante on Sunday as the Madrid club moved top of the League.
Simeone has asked Atletico to reject any offers for the 22-year-old, who has a contract until the summer of 2019.
