Diego Godin has insisted that “no-one can take away our dream of winning every trophy” after Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 win against Levante on Saturday.
Los Colchoneros replaced Barcelona atop La Liga thanks to Thomas Partey’s late goal, and the defender made it clear his side could no longer be considered outsiders for major silverware.
“The numbers speak for themselves and show that we fight for everything,” he said after the game.
“No-one can take away our dream of winning every trophy. We fight for every game as if it were the last.
“It strengthens us to continue working in this way. Of course, we know we must improve on certain things, but we're very happy with the win and three points.
“We’re aware that much [of the season] remains and that we’re on the right track.
“We’re excited [to top La Liga]. We’re a very ambitious team, we’ll keep fighting to the end, try to win every game and fight for every trophy.
“[Levante] adopted a great approach and played a great game.
“We were unlucky not to score earlier, but luckily we got to the end and got the three points.”
