It’s claimed in Italy that Real Madrid President Florentino Perez met with Roma Coach Rudi Garcia over the summer, before appointing Rafa Benitez.
AS cites a report from La Repubblica that says Garcia turned down Perez’s approach to stay in Italy, and also rejected offers from the Premier League after Roma gave him improved terms.
Benitez was appointed as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement shortly after the Italian was sacked, but reports in Spain on Tuesday suggest there’s little support left for the Coach at Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid and Roma were on Monday paired against each other in the Champions League Round of 16.
