New Valencia boss Gary Neville could make Andre Carrillo his first signing in January as Sporting CP have confirmed the winger’s departure.
The 24-year-old has not played for the Portuguese giants since September after refusing to extend his contract, and he has now been formally suspended by the club, who are expected to cash in on the player next month to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
Carrillo, who was also the subject of a failed bid from Premier League leaders Leicester City in the summer, recently admitted he was “drawn” to playing in Spain, consequently linking him with Los Che, who have yet to tie down Sofiane Feghouli to a new contract.
The Peru international joined Sporting in the summer of 2011 from Alianza Lima and enjoyed a breakthrough 2014-15, scoring six goals and laying off a further 17 as his side won the Portuguese Cup – their first silverware in seven years.
