Antonio Sanabria became Sporting Gijon’s youngest-ever hat-trick hero with his treble against Las Palmas on Sunday.
In doing so, the Roma loanee – who had not scored September 20 and suffered an injury in that time – also became the fourth youngest in La Liga history, behind Lionel Messi, Yanko Dancik and record holder Giovani dos Santos.
“I needed a game like that,” he said after the game.
“I’m a young player who still has a lot to learn and this is a very good team for me to do that.
“I’m very comfortable here and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.
“For now, I want to continue helping Sporting fulfil its aim [of staying up] and return to my national team [Paraguay].”
