Luis Enrique claims Barcelona “are still the best team” around following Tuesday’s 6-1 demolition of Roma in the Champions League.
Two doubles from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, sandwiched by efforts from Gerard Pique and Adriano, fired the Catalans to their second emphatic victory in a row and sealed top spot in Group E, leaving the Coach to heap the most flattering of praise on his side.
“I see the fans enjoying the team and us recovering from our injuries,” he said after the game.
“I also see those not playing wanting to do so. January’s approaching and it’s important for us because we can add players.
“It’s the best when you see your players [the ‘MSN’] enjoy themselves on the pitch and do so as team players. They enjoy training and playing together.
“[On whether the ‘MSN’ have peaked]], in such a complex sport, there are always things to improve.
“Still, we’re in a very beautiful spell and we have to extend it to the fullest.
“We take every game with the utmost sincerity. We know that we need this [defensive] pressure for the end of the season. The more we train, the better.
“I have some very smart players and we know we’re still the best team after the first third of the season.”
