Keylor Navas’ muscle strain is likely to keep him out of Real Madrid’s match against Las Palmas in La Liga on Saturday, with Kiko Casilla waiting in the wings.
Navas’ impressive start to the season has been curtailed with a knock to his right leg, although he is expected back against Paris Saint-Germain next Tuesday, paving the way for summer signing Casilla to make his official debut.
“If [Navas] has a muscle strain, we must ensure nothing else happens to him. Casilla could play at Las Palmas,” his Coach Rafa Benitez confirmed to RNE on Thursday.
The Costa Rican had been an ever-present in 2015-16, conceding just three goals in 12 games, but becomes Madrid’s 11th injury victim of the campaign.
Casilla, meanwhile, has not played since the friendly against Valerenga on August 9, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
