FIFA have confirmed President of the Spanish Football Federation [RFEF] Angel Maria Villar is one of the figures under investigation.
Villar, also a FIFA and UEFA Vice-President and interim UEFA President as Michel Platini serves a 90-day suspension, was named as the world governing body’s ethics committee released a list of individuals currently under investigation.
Platini and President Sepp Blatter were both also named, as was Franz Beckenbauer, and the cases of Villar and Beckenbauer are already with the adjudicatory chamber.
AS notes Villar was investigated for a lack of cooperation with the investigation led by Michael Garcia into the voting for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, to be held in Russia and Qatar respectively.
A report from the Netherlands is also cited by AS, suggesting Villar is ‘involved’ in two other cases, without specifying exactly what his involvement is.
Investigations into Worawi Makudi, Jeffrey Webb, Ricardo Teixeira, Amos Adamu, Eugenio Figueredo and Nicolas Leoz were also confirmed.
