Sofiane Feghouli was well aware of Valencia’s need to beat Lyon in their Champions League encounter but admits the team ‘suffered’ for victory.
Feghouli scored the only goal of the game late in the first half to give Los Che their first three points of the group stage campaign after they started with a home defeat to Zenit St Petersburg.
“It was very important to win. The pace was hellish,” he said, AS reports.
“We always have to be together, so you have to congratulate everyone. We did well, created chances in the first half, and in the second we dropped back and suffered a little.
“No matches are easy. You have to run a lot and have solidarity with your teammates. We knew we would get space and we used it.
“I’m happy for the group and for the victory.”
