Suarez: It was a clear penalty

Luis Suarez felt he was denied an obvious penalty as Barcelona drew 1-1 with Roma in their opening Champions League game.

The holders were held in Italy after Suarez opened the scoring, only for his goal to be cancelled out from the half-way line by Alessandro Florenzi.

“We have to be calm because we played a good game and we had chances to score,” Suarez said, AS reports.

“They scored from long distance and then retreated back. We tried to create more chances, but we couldn’t make them clear.

“We know how Italian teams are. They’re teams who make it very difficult to get into them, but we can’t look for excuses.

“The penalty? It’s clear and the images are there. Then they tell me I pretended…”
