Valencia goalkeeper Matthew Ryan is facing more than a month on the sidelines after an operation on his knee.
Super Deporte cite the club as confirming the procedure, which was carried out on Monday afternoon after the Australia international was injured in the draw with Deportivo La Coruna.
“The operation went well. He had a torn medial ligament. Four to six weeks is the time before he can join in sporting activity,” the doctor who performed the surgery is quoted as saying.
It’s noted that Ryan has undergone a similar operation before, to his left knee, while it is his right knee that is the problem this time.
“With some luck I’ll be back in four weeks. I want to return even stronger and thank you for your support,” he wrote on Twitter.
