Barcelona have reportedly performed an about-turn on Andriy Yarmolenko and will look to gazump Everton for the Dynamo Kiev forward.
Sport reports that the decision to persist with the squad as it stands now, which was taken after Pedro Rodriguez was sold to Chelsea, has gone out the window.
Originally Barca were to give Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi the chance to prove their worth in the first time, as any new signing couldn’t play until January.
Yarmolenko and Celta Vigo forward Nolito were tagged as winter signings of the young pair struggled to make the grade or there was an injury to one of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, but there’s been a change of heart at Camp Nou.
Instead, Sport believe Barca are strongly considering an approach for Yarmolenko, whose club had agreed terms with Everton on a €25m transfer.
Luis Enrique is understood to be in favour of signing Yarmolenko and Barca’s interest has led to the deal with Everton to be put on hold.
Barca have until Friday to make their bid but don’t want to match what Everton are offering – instead the Catalans’ proposal is for €20m over three payments.
The first €5m would come when the deal is agreed, the second €5m in January and the remaining €10m at the end of the season.
Barca could in return let Yarmolenko stay in Kiev for the rest of the year and only take his registration in January, when their transfer embargo is lifted.
