Cedric Bakambu has expressed his delight at securing a “big step in my career” with Villarreal.
The former France youth international scored 21 goals for Bursaspor last season and has subsequently earned a switch to El Madrigal, following in the footsteps of fellow attackers Roberto Soldado and Leo Baptistao this summer.
“[A deal was] difficult, especially in the final stages of negotiations, but I always had patience and a peace of mind that an agreement would be reached,” he said during his presentation on Thursday.
“I'm eager to learn and become an important player [for Villarreal]. Although the hardest part is about to follow, I'm optimistic and prepared to overcome it.
"Joining Villarreal is a big step for me. I'm very happy to be here because it's a big step in my career and I'm very happy about that.
“It's clear that reaching the Spanish League is another step for me. It's a challenge and a great opportunity.
“I know that the hardest part is yet to come, but I'll put all my eggs in one basket in order to give myself the best chance of becoming an important player.
“There's a lot of quality and competition in our attack. We've signed big players [like Roberto Soldado], but it's a motivation for me because it makes me want to become more competitive and improve so I can play alongside them.”
