Sofiane Feghouli claims Valencia were always in control of Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League playoff victory over Monaco.
The Algeria international, who has recently been linked with a move to Super Lig giants Fenerbahce, clinched Los Che's first-leg advantage at Mestalla with a late strike ahead of next week's return trip in the Principality.
“We knew it would be difficult, they're very good opponents and have already started their League [campaign],” he told AS after the match.
“Physically we knew it would be difficult, especially at the end, but the team showed humility, character and experience.
“It's a good result and now we're playing to regain [our best form] and must congratulate one another.
“We controlled the game well, and although we still have to take care of the [remaining] details, this result gives us confidence for the return leg.”
