Reports from Italy have mentioned Roma as suitors for Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao after failing to get Adriano from Barcelona.
AS cite claims from Sky Italia that the Italians have been in contact with Los Blancos to arrange a loan for the Portugal international with an obligation to buy.
Coentrao is facing another season playing back-up to Marcelo and has more than once been on the brink of leaving Santiago Bernabeu in recent summers.
His close friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo may not be enough reason for Madrid to keep him at the club, AS suggest.
Roma had made Adriano their first choice in the position and the Brazilian is keen to leave Barca in search of more playing time, but thus far no deal has been reached.
That frustration has led Roma to look for alternatives and one of the names reportedly under consideration is Coentrao.
