Brazilian starlet Gerson has reportedly accepted Barcelona’s offer, turning down an approach from Serie A side Roma.
Sport reports that Gerson had promised Barca he would wait to hear their offer before accepting anything from anyone else and, after speaking with La Blaugrana, kept his word and accepted.
Gerson’s father is understood to have met with representatives from his current club, Fluminense, to confirm the midfielder was rejecting a €15m bid from Roma and accepting Barca’s €12m offer.
Barca and Fluminense have agreed on the fee and the deal should be confirmed later this week.
The plan is for Gerson to train with Barca until January, as he can’t be registered before then due to the club’s transfer embargo.
A decision will be made in January as to whether or not he will stay with the team from that point or move out on loan.
