Paco Jemez has admitted that “maybe it’s time to change the Coach” in a scathing attack on Rayo Vallecano after their 5-0 defeat to Albacete on Saturday.
Los Vallecanos were humbled by the Segunda side at Carlos Belmonte, leaving the Coach – who changed the entire XI at half-time out of disgust, with his side heading into the break already 3-0 down – to consider his position at the helm, less than a month before the start of the new season.
“[The team were] shameful and horrible, just horrible,” he said after the game.
“Many players have wasted a very good opportunity to earn a place in the team.
“We must strengthen in all departments, budget permitting.
“We must draw conclusions [from this result] and, maybe, it’s time to change the Coach.”
Jemez was linked with Newcastle United and Marseille towards the tail end of 2014-15 but ultimately ended any speculation about his future by signing a contract extension in May.
