Benitez reiterates Ramos plea

Rafa Benitez has reiterated his belief that Sergio Ramos will not leave Real Madrid this summer following Friday's 4-1 win against Manchester City.

Speaking after his side's International Champions Cup triumph, the Coach also touched on the likelihood of the 'BBC' continuing to lead Los Blancos' line, the goalkeeping conundrum and Cristiano Ronaldo's individual quality.

"[On the 'BBC' leading the line], the key is the quality of the players we have on the pitch," he said after the game.

"We have to go about ensuring the entire team are in tune with one another.

"We're strong in defence and must play with a little more freedom in order to exploit our talent in attack.

"If we play well and have the ball like we did [on Friday] then we're a team who will score goals.

"With these players, we have to attack, like I said at my presentation. We have the mentality and quality to do so and just have to improve that little bit defensively.

"We wanted to give [Keylor Navas] the opportunity to play and become more comfortable, and he did well.

"With [Kiko] Casilla, we didn't want to rush him after his midweek arrival from Spain. Now, once we get to China, we'll see how both of them are and make a decision.

"[On David de Gea], I have a goalkeeper in goal for every game, and that makes me happy.

"When I arrived here, I spoke with Iker [Casillas] and Sergio [Ramos], learned about their situations and gave them my opinions.

"Ramos has known since day one that I want him to stay and, as I said the other day, I'm convinced that he will stay.

"Anyone who has played football and understands what can happen in each training session will notice a player [in Cristiano Ronaldo] who is eager, competitive, happy and scores goals."
