Former Real Madrid and Roma goalkeeping coach Franco Tancredi says the Italian club should do all they can to sign Iker Casillas.
The Spanish shot-stopper, who has spent his entire career at Santiago Bernabeu, has been heavily linked with a move away from his boyhood club this summer.
Speaking to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Tancredi, who coached Casillas during the 2006-07 season, also described the 34-year-old as ‘extraordinary.’
“Casillas should be signed. He makes differences,” Tancredi remarked.
“I had the opportunity to coach him during a year at Real Madrid and it would make me happy to see him at Roma.
“With Buffon and Cech he has been one of the best in the world, he has done extraordinary things.
“He is a great guy, with an education and sincerity which are out of the ordinary.
“When I was training him I said to him, ‘Why don’t you come to Roma?’ I hope that now he can come.”
