The agent of Iker Casillas has revealed that the Real Madrid goalkeeper is “honoured” to be the subject of links with Roma.
The Giallorossi are understood to be on the lookout for an improvement on their shot-stopping options, with first choice Morgan De Sanctis not viewed as a long-term solution, and have reportedly set their sights on the 34-year-old, who in turn could be sacrificed for David de Gea.
"All I can say is that Roma are a huge club, one of the best in Europe and we’re honoured by these rumours. We love the city and the warmth of the fans,” he told La Roma 24.
However, Casillas would likely be forced to swallow a significant pay cut as he currently earns €7.5m per season, while Roma – according to AS – would only be able to offer him a maximum of €3m.
Tuttomercatoweb, meanwhile, reports that a phone call between the Serie A club and Spaniard took place on Saturday.
