Benfica have reportedly asked Atletico Madrid for a year’s loan of Javi Manquillo, who is to leave Liverpool this summer.
Reports from England say the Reds will send Manquillo back to Vicente Calderon after a disappointing season, part of a Spanish exodus that has already seen Iago Aspas join Sevilla – and then Celta Vigo – and Jose Enrique and Luis Alberto told they can leave too.
Portuguese publication A Bola say Benfica want Manquillo, who is seen as a long-term replacement for Juanfran at right-back.
Atletico are open to another loan move as they want the player to continue his development before challenging for a first team place.
