Real Sociedad have reportedly informed Alfred Finnbogason that he is free to leave the club this summer.
Big things were expected of the Icelandic striker at Anoeta following his €8m arrival from Heerenveen last year, having been the Eredivisie’s top goalscorer in 2013-14.
However, he struggled to displace Carlos Vela and Imanol Agirretxe as the club’s first-choice attackers, scoring just two goals in 804 minutes of La Liga football.
Now, according to AS, David Moyes has decided that the 26-year-old does not fit his style of play and will allow him to leave San Sebastian in order to secure first-team football.
La Real do not consider addressing Finnbogason’s future a priority, but it is understood that teams from France and Netherlands have already made enquiries for the forward.
Although it remains to be seen whether La Real will recoup the €8m they paid to Heerenveen in 2014, they would likely entertain any bids above €4m.
