Clement named new Derby boss

Former Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement has been named the new head Coach of Derby County on a three-year contract.

The 43-year-old left the Santiago Bernabeu last week following the dismissal of his mentor Carlo Ancelotti and will now embark on his first managerial role.

Clement began his career at Chelsea in the 1990s, before returning to the club in 2007 and being promoted to first-team Coach by Guus Hiddink two years later.

He then stayed on under Ancelotti, who replaced the Dutchman ahead of the 2009-10 campaign, and consequently became his right-hand man at Stamford Bridge, Paris Saint-Germain and Los Blancos.

Derby, meanwhile, were on the lookout for a new Coach after Steve McClaren was sacked for ending the past season outside the playoff places in the English Championship.
