Atletico Madrid have reportedly ruled themselves out of the running for Radamel Falcao this summer.
Reports in France claimed the 29-year-old was keen on a return to the Vicente Calderon next season, but those wishes have been dashed by AS, who believes Los Colchoneros are looking elsewhere.
Falcao spent the 2014-15 campaign on loan at Manchester United from Monaco but mustered just four goals in 29 appearances and was subsequently sent back to the French principality.
Injuries and a loss of form have been the story of the Colombian’s career since leaving the former La Liga winners, where he scored 70 times in 91 games, two years ago.
Atleti are understood to be on the hunt for a new striker after growing frustrated with Mario Mandzukic, and the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Edinson Cavani remain reported targets.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claims that Atleti have set their sights on Falcao’s Monaco teammate Anthony Martial, regarded by many as the ‘new Thierry Henry’.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Stade Louis II, netting 11 goals in all competitions, but a move may prove difficult as the Ligue 1 giants have already made it clear that the attacker is not for sale.
