Real Madrid have completed a deal to sign Uruguay Under-17 starlet Federico Valverde, according to reports in Spain.
Los Blancos are understood to have shelled out €5m for the Penarol striker, who was in Madrid last week to undergo a medical and watch his new employers’ Champions League semi-final second-leg defeat to Juventus.
However, he is not expected to join Madrid until the start of the 2016-17 season as the club are keen to wait until he has turned 18 next July before bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Valverde is considered the star of Uruguay’s Under-17 team. and becomes the latest young player after the likes of Marco Asensio, Augusto Batalla and Martin Odegaard (pictured) to join the capital giants this season.
Madrid are also believed to have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona in securing the 17-year-old’s signature.
