‘No Celta player is indispensable’

Eduardo Berizzo has insisted that Celta Vigo will not be forced to sell any of their prized assets this summer but admitted “no-one is indispensable”.

The likes of Jonny, Santi Mina and Nolito have been linked with moves away during the close-season, while Borja Oubina and Michael Krohn-Dehli will both depart Balaidos upon the expiry of their contracts.

However, the Coach was keen to stress that he would not be forced into making any wholesale changes to his squad, although he refused to entertain the idea of keeping anyone against their will.

“We’re watching [Lanus striker Lucas Melano and Independiente midfielder Federico Mancuello], but there haven’t been any negotiations,” he said at a Press conference ahead of Celta’s final game against Espanyol.

“They are great players, but they’re not the only ones.

“I don’t believe many players will be leaving, but our priority is signing a midfielder to replace Borja [Oubina] and [Michael] Krohn-Dehli.

“The club have made it clear that there’s no need to dismantle the squad. If sales happen then it’s because another club have plenty of money, but we don’t need to sell anyone.

“No-one will stay against their will. Every player is sellable. No matter how good they are, no-one is indispensable. We’ll seek to resolve any exit demands.”
