Derby County are reportedly targeting Paul Clement, Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Real Madrid, to become their Coach for next season.
According to AS, the English Championship club have made a proposal to the 43-year-old [pictured, far left] as insurance should current boss Steve McClaren decide to depart the iPro Stadium, after being strongly linked with the Newcastle United job.
Clement worked as Ancelotti’s assistant during the Italian’s time with Chelsea and subsequently followed him to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, while making no secret of the fact he likes the idea of sitting on the bench as his own man.
London-born Clement is the son of former England player Dave Clement and brother of Neil Clement, who represented Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion, although on a personal level he never progressed beyond non-league football.
It is not the first time he has been courted by clubs from the United Kingdom, with Brighton, West Brom and Southampton all having shown interest last summer, although he decided to remain in the Spanish capital.
